Canadian Truck King Competition
Kawartha Lakes, ON. Around this same time each year, a group of Canadian automotive journalists gets together to evaluate the latest truck offerings and determine which new model is the king of kings.
Last year, the timing was all wrong, as the new release dates were all over the place. As for this year’s timing, it couldn’t be better! The lineup for the 2016 Canadian Truck King competition included a complete selection of pickup trucks and minivans, both big and small, available in the Canadian market.
The experience of putting these work vehicles through their paces and attributing notes was second-to-none. The winners will be announced shortly. For now, here are the vehicles that were put through their paces on a variety of Central Ontario roads.
The midsize pickup lineup included:
- Chevrolet Colorado V6
- GMC Canyon diesel
- Toyota Tacoma
The full-size pickup lineup consisted of:
- Ram 1500 EcoDiesel
- Ford F-150 2.7L V6
- Ford F-150 3.5L V6
- Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 L 8-speed auto.
The minivan segment was made up of:
- Nissan NV200
- Ram ProMaster City
- Mercedes-Benz Metris
The full-size minivan lineup included:
- Ram ProMaster Diesel
- Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
- Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4 x 4
- Ford Transit
